Commercial ConstructionExcavationTo allow the new paving to be installed correctly, a certain amount of excavation will be required. The depth of this excavation will depend upon the thickness of the required sub-base plus the laying course material and the paving. The disposal of the excavated material will conform to the statutory regulations. Installation of geo-textile membraneA geo-textile membrane will be employed to stabilise the ground and prevent the contamination of the existing sub-grade and the newly installed sub-base. Installation of sub-baseA sub-base of granular material Type 1 will be installed and compacted in layers no greater 75mm. This will ensure the material is correctly compacted. Recycled materials may be used, provided it is supplied in accordance with the grading curve of Type 1 material and compacts to give a close textured finish. Installation of edge restraintEdge restraints resist lateral movement, prevent rotation of the blocks under load and restrict the loss of laying course and the sub-base at boundaries. Edge restraints may be formed by existing structures, kerbs, channels, edgings, blocks set on concrete etc. Installation of laying course materialLaying course material will consist of well-graded ‘grit’ sand complying with the grading given in BS7533 Part 3: 2005.The material will have uniform moisture content, being moist without being saturated. Under no account will any cementitous material be present in the laying course material. Installation of the pavingThe paving material will be installed in accordance with the Marshalls Installation Procedures and in the chosen colour and pattern. Jointing sandAll joints will be fully filled with fine dry sand. Periodically during the early life of the drive the joints will require re-sanding and a supply of jointing sand will be supplied for your convenience. KeybondApply Keybond (except Clay paving) sand stabilising solution to the finished drive. Keybond impedes the unwanted erosion of jointing sand and helps to prevent ingress of water during the early life of the pavement. Keybond is completely biodegradable and non-toxic. |
